In all of our resins from the Rif, the same compound dominates the profile: a woody, resinous terpene—the signature of the region’s soils. It dominates in Ketama and Bab Berred, both at high altitudes and in the valley floor.
In this batch, it comes in second. Ahead of it is caryophyllene at 0.38% —the molecule found in black pepper and cloves. The woody note is still present, but it provides support rather than taking the lead.
The result is a resin that’s warmer and spicier than its neighbors, rounded out by a generous amount of bisabolol—the compound found in chamomile. And with 22.6% CBD, it has the highest CBD content in our catalog.

Take a look at the top of the ranking below: pepper holds the top spot, which is an exception in our lineup. Everywhere else, a woody note occupies that position.
Right behind it comes the sweetness of chamomile, followed by the woody note, which has been relegated to third place. The three are closely grouped together, resulting in a warm, dense profile rather than a single, easily identifiable note.
Further down, a fresh pine note and a rounded fruitiness balance the whole and prevent it from becoming too heavy. It’s this structure—spicy at the top, sweet in the middle, and fresh at the base—that defines the character of this batch.

The goal of this cross was to capture that character on the cannabidiol side. Cannatonic provides the reliable foundation—it’s one of the first stabilized CBD strains, consistently delivering high CBD levels. The rest depended on what Joy Fruit would pass on.
It passed on the structure more than the fruitiness. The final profile is spicy and well-rounded where we had expected more pronounced fruitiness—but the balance is there, and the CBD content exceeds anything else we produce.
Ounas Edin is a village at the foot of Mount Tizirane, part of the douar of Bab Berred. Our plots there are spread across two levels on the same mountainside, and this is the lower one: south-facing slopes, above the riverbed.
Heat builds up there from sunrise to sunset, and the slope drains—the water flows downhill. It’s a site that gets plenty of light but offers little shade.
Ounas Edin was the first village in the area to tackle the problem. Retention basins to capture winter rains, followed by drip irrigation to redistribute the water during the dry season: what we now take for granted was implemented here before it was anywhere else.
The result is a plant that receives enough water to thrive, on land that still encourages it to produce. This batch demonstrates this with 2.0% terpenes.

One point is worth noting: No. 0019 grows on this same low-lying plot, yet its profile is entirely different. Same soil, same exposure, same season—it’s the genetics that make the difference. The terroir provides a framework; it doesn’t determine everything.

CBG is the precursor to other cannabinoids: the plant converts it as it matures, so very little remains at harvest. A CBG content of 1.2% is noteworthy, and it’s the highest level in our lineup.
Like any unprocessed dry sift, this resin contains a fraction of plant material. The sieve separates the trichomes from the rest of the plant; it does not isolate them completely—and that’s by design.
A final electrostatic sifting process would remove this residue, retaining only the trichome heads. But concentrating the heads also concentrates everything they contain, including THC. What the sieve allows through is precisely what maintains the balance of the finished product.

A spicy warmth comes through first, closer to black pepper than to heat. A gentle hint of chamomile immediately accompanies it and rounds out the aroma. The woody base note, which is usually dominant in our Rif resins, remains in the background here. A subtle fruity note can be detected in the background.
Pine notes rise briefly at first, then pepper sets in and lingers throughout. The chamomile prevents it from becoming dry. The smoke is dense without being acrid, and the aftertaste is among the longest of our batches—a result of a profile dominated by heavy molecules.
Dense and supple. The cigar crumbles cleanly under the thumb while retaining its cohesion. Brown in color, uniform throughout its thickness.
Faced with international seed companies and hash producers, the Rif could have simply continued producing as before and lost the battle. That’s not what happened, and the neighboring village of Anassar played a major role in that.
Their contribution wasn’t material. It was helping people understand why a strain behaves the way it does, what happens at the exact moment of harvest, and what drying too quickly destroys without anyone noticing. These are things that techniques imported from elsewhere—electrostatic sifting, the ice-o-lator—required us to understand in order to master them.
It is this understanding that remains, long after the tools are gone. We don’t use either of these processes: they isolate the trichome heads and concentrate the entire profile—including THC—beyond the legal threshold. But what we know about sifting, we owe in part to those who took the time to explain it.

In most of our Rif resins, a woody compound holds this position—here it comes in second. No. 0013 shares this characteristic, but without the piney freshness that gives this one its lightness.
This is the most concentrated one, which isn't the same thing. The cannabidiol content depends on genetics and the fineness of the sifting; it says nothing about the aroma or texture.
