Outdoor resin from Ounas Edin, grown at 1,300 meters on the slopes of Tizirane in the Moroccan Rif. 20.3% CBD and 1.6% terpenes.
This is the only batch in the line where the dominant terpene is a light compound rather than a base note. It’s immediately and distinctly noticeable, but fades more quickly. Dry sifted using a tam-tam sieve, 153 microns. Numbered batch; ISO 17025 analysis available for review prior to purchase.
Not all terpenes are created equal in terms of weight. Some are light and evaporate quickly—these are the ones you smell when you open a bag. Others are heavy, linger in the background, and provide a long-lasting finish on the palate.
In all our other resins from the Rif, a base compound dominates. Not so with this one. The top terpene is alpha-pinene, at 0.35%—the molecule that evokes pine needles and the forest floor after rain. The base note that dominates elsewhere drops here to 0.14%, two to four times less than on our other plots.
The difference isn’t genetic; it’s topographical. These plants grow higher up on the mountainside than our other Ounas Edin plots, at 1,300 meters, where it’s cooler.

One bar clearly dominates the ranking below, and that’s where this batch stands out from all the others: the leading molecule is a light compound, not a base note.
In practical terms, this means that most of the aroma is on the surface. It is released as soon as the package is opened; it doesn’t require the material to be warmed up to emerge, and it evaporates more quickly. An immediate and distinct resinous freshness.
Behind that, pepper and sweetness take their usual places. What’s missing, however, is the heavy woody base that gives structure to our other batches: it’s present, but reduced by half to three-quarters. The resin gains in clarity what it loses in persistence.
That’s what sets this batch apart from most of our others. Harlequin, Cannatonic: these strains were selected for their cannabidiol content; they reliably pass it on, and the rest just comes on top of that.
Orangella and Gelato do not belong to this family. These are two strains that owe their reputation to their aromatic profile, in a world where breeding efforts were heading in a completely different direction. Achieving 20.3% CBD from this material is by no means automatic: it’s the result of selective breeding, not genetic inheritance.
As for the aroma these two names promise, it’s barely detectable in the report. The citrus compound peaks at 0.05%. What made it through the crossbreeding process was a structure—not a signature.
Ounas Edin is a village at the foot of Tizirane, on the edge of the forest known as the Ketama region. We cultivate there at two different elevations on the same mountainside, and the resins produced there are quite different from one another.
Down below, on the south-facing slopes above the riverbed that flows down from the Tizirane, heat builds up and the woody base note dominates. Here, higher up the slope at 1,300 meters, that same compound drops by two-thirds, while the lighter molecules take the lead.
Same soil, same handler, same extraction method, same season. The only variable is altitude—and that alone is enough to completely reverse the profile.
This can be verified: the analysis reports for No. 0019 and No. 0020 are both available online, and the difference is striking.

1.6% terpenes: this is the lowest figure among our Moroccan resins, and it would be misleading to focus solely on that.
What matters is the distribution. Alpha-pinene reaches 0.35% —the highest level we’ve measured for this compound across all batches. And it’s precisely the one you notice most easily, even at the lowest concentration. The total is lower, but the fraction that your nose picks up immediately is the strongest in the range.

Immediate—and that’s what strikes you first. No need to warm it up or wait: the resinous freshness hits you the moment you open it—clean, almost camphor-like. No citrus notes at all, despite the name. Underneath, a subtle sweetness and a hint of pepper, but the top note clearly dominates.
The opening is crisp and clean. The pepper takes over quickly, softened by bisabolol. Then the overall flavor fades faster than in our other batches—the woody base that usually prolongs the tasting experience is too weak here to last the distance. It’s a resin that gives a lot at the start and less at the end.
Dry to the touch, less oily than the low-altitude batches. The ingot crumbles easily and releases its aroma at the slightest friction—a direct result of a profile concentrated in volatile molecules. Store in a cool, airtight place more carefully than the others.
The total terpene content has become a selling point, just like the CBD content. It’s easy to compare, but it’s an incomplete measure.
Two resins with the same total content can behave in opposite ways depending on the nature of the molecules that make them up. The lighter ones are immediately noticeable on the nose and fade quickly. The heavier ones only reveal themselves when heated but linger in the mouth for a long time.
A high total driven by heavy compounds will result in a resin that is subtle when cold but persistent on the palate. A lower total, but one concentrated in light molecules, will yield the opposite: a strong nose but less length. Neither is superior—they simply appeal at different times.
That’s why we publish the detailed profile and not just the total.
Because the total percentage doesn’t indicate where the compound is located. This batch has a total content of 1.6%, compared to 1.8% to 2.2% for our other Moroccan resins, but its alpha-pinene content reaches 0.35%—the highest level we’ve measured for this compound. And yet it’s one of the easiest to detect. Less material overall, but better positioned to be smelled.
We grow grapes at two different elevations on the same mountainside in Ounas Edin. Down below, near the river, the composition is dominated by woody material. Higher up, at 1,300 meters, the proportion of woody material drops by two-thirds, and lighter compounds take the lead. Same soil, same method, same season: that’s the only factor that changes, and it’s enough to completely alter the profile. Both analysis reports are available online.
Through selective breeding. These two strains owe their reputation to their aromatic profile, not to their cannabidiol content. Achieving this level from such source material requires work spanning several generations—unlike strains such as Harlequin or Cannatonic, which pass on CBD on their own.
With a little more care, yes. Its aroma is based on volatile molecules, which evaporate more quickly than the base compounds. Store in an airtight container, in a cool place, away from light: the same rules as for our other resins, but neglecting them will take its toll more quickly on this batch.
In terms of everything that matters in a tasting, No. 0019 comes from lower down on the same slope: a flat profile, with no dominant notes, and a distinctly present woody base. No. 0020 has a clean, light top note and a subtle base note. The former settles in and lingers; the latter makes an impact and then fades. They share the same location, method, and season—nothing else.
